The Enugu Chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari for the second time in office at the 2019 general election draws near.
News Agency of Nigeria reports that The unanimous decisions were taken during the state’s APC’s enlarged State Executive Council and stakeholders meeting held at the party’s secretariat in Enugu.
We understand that the State Chairman of APC, Dr Ben Nwoye, while addressing the stakeholders of the party stated that the party would field candidate to all elective position.“We have the power and all it takes to confront the PDP in 2019,’’ he said.
He, however, cautioned against sabotaging the plans of the party by some members.
“If there is anybody here who will support the election of a PDP candidate, this is not the place for you, you should leave us; what we want is purely candidates of APC extraction.
“We must drop our egos and focus on winning elections in the interest of the party,’’ he said.
Nwoye also used the opportunity to apologize to all the party faithfuls that he might have offended during the crisis period of the party.
The party equally passed a vote of confidence on the president and Dr Ben Nwoye, led executive committee of the party in the state.

Goods and shops in the Popular Timber market,  Kenyatta, Enugu state, estimated to worth about N1.2bn has been razed by fire.
This Day Live report that an eyewitness confirmed that the fire began to rage after the close of work on Friday night and raged into the midnight, with the effort of the men of the state fire service proving abortive.
News men gathered that Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and the State Emergency Management Agency visited the market late Friday night to coordinate activities of the fire-fighters.
Shop owners and sympathisers were seen in clusters discussing the tragic development while the younger ones among them were sifting through the debris to salvage any item of value and others assisting the fire fighters.
The cause of the fire cannot be verified, however, a fireman at the incident pointed out that arson might not be the likely cause of the fire. He said that men of the fire service are on top of the situation, as they have succeed in restraining the fire in the market from spreading.
A trader at the timber shed who gave his name as Mr. Amaechi estimated the damage to be in the region of N2 billion.
The Peoples Democratic Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will fail in the July 14 governorship election, “even if it deploys N100 billion to prosecute the election.”
The party said the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi had allegedly earlier boasted of providing N8 billion from his own pocket and,”gave the assurance of N20 billion from the Presidency to buy one vote at N20,000″.
PDP Publicity Secretary, in a statement on Sunday, Jackson Adebayo, who was reacting to report that the APC was proposing a budget of N15 billion for the Ekiti and Osun States governorship election said it was laughable that a party controlling the federal government that did nothing for Ekiti State since it assumed power in 2015 could be raising N15 billion for election.
The PDP said; “APC is budgeting N7.5 billion, three months allocation of Ekiti State for a mere governorship election while Fayemi is boasting of having N8 billion his personal money to spend and N20 billion from the Presidency, making N35.5 billion? What special interest do they have in Ekiti that will require spending of N35.5 billion on mere governorship election?
“In one year, Ekiti State cannot get N35.5 billion as share from the federation account and the question is; of what benefit will the N35.5 billion be for the people of Ekiti? Why not spend just half of the N35.5 billion on infrastructural development of Ekiti State?
“To us in Ekiti State PDP, no amount of money will buy the conscience and integrity of Ekiti people. Ekiti people are mindful of the party that plunged the State into debt and collapsed the economy of the country.
“Talking about spending N35.5 billion on Ekiti election is an insult on the collective sensibilities of Ekiti the people. Not even when the APC federal government has not done anything for the State since it took power in 2015.
“Even Fayemi that boasted of having N8 billion to spend on the election, can the APC point to one benefit Ekiti has derived from his position as minister in charge of solid minerals? Even the solid minerals in Isan-Ekiti, his hometown, has he done anything on them?
“The reality the leadership of APC in Abuja must begin to face from now is that even if the entire treasury of the federal government is opened and deployed to Ekiti State from today till July 14, it won’t save the party from losing the governorship election.”
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday congratulated former President, Olusegun Obasanjo on his 81st birthday and for calling out the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government.
PDP described Obasanjo was an “outstanding nationalist; a courageous and dedicated leader, who has made immeasurable sacrifices towards the development, stability and growth of the nation.”
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan said the party remains proud of Obasanjo, who has excelled as an international figure and made outstanding contributions toward global peace and development, particularly, in the African sub-region.
The statement reads, “Indeed, the PDP intensely celebrates former President Obasanjo who stands tall as one of the best performed Nigerian Presidents chiefly because his administration founded and anchored its policies and programmes on PDP’s people-based manifesto and ideology.”
The PDP also commends the former President for his, “continued engagement on national issues, particularly his disposition against poor governance, corruption, bloodletting and confusion that now pervade the nation in our nearly three years under the incompetent and deceptive All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government.
“While we value Chief Obasanjo for his concerns for the political future of our nation, we note that our repositioned and rebranded PDP remains the only credible political platform for the much desired broad-based engagements among Nigerians and coalitions across board.
“Our party, the PDP, is more than prepared to salvage our nation in the all-important task of returning her back to the path of good governance, national unity and prosperity for all, come 2019.
“The PDP family therefore joins in celebrating Chief Obasanjo on his birthday, even as we pray God to grant him good health, wisdom and strength as he continues to be of service to our dear fatherland.”
