TheEconomic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly arrested policemen alleged to have connived with some fraudsters to dupe a major distributor for Dangote Cement, Jummy Azees Nigeria Ltd.
The fraudster, Daily Sun gathered, in connivance with some policemen, duped the company to the tune of N700 million.
It was also gathered that some of the suspects have been arrested by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Monitoring Unit and have since been arraigned in court.
Narrating his ordeal, Kazeem Aremu, said: “Sometime in or about July 2014, one Kemi became a registered customer to the company and availed her credit facility for the supply of two trucks of Dangote Cement worth N1.9 million, but failed to pay as promised.”
He admitted that his relationship with Kemi soon became intimate, such that he begun to give her advice on how to improve sales to make more profit.
Aremu claimed that sometime in December 2015, Kemi invited him for an “important” discussion, which he obliged her. At their agreed location, Aremu said Kemi told him she met an Islamic cleric in the Oju Ore area of Sango Ota, Ogun State, who advised him (Kazeem) to come for spiritual cleansing.
He said when Kemi persisted, he obliged.
“I later underwent the ritual cleansing at a river in Meiran area of Lagos State,” he said.
He claimed that the entire spiritual process with the Alfa cost him N40 million.
“On the eighth day of the spiritual seclusion, I was at Aliko Dangote’s residence when I received a call from Alfa and Kemi that the money I gave to them for ritual cleansing had miraculously and magically turned to dollars and euros.
“I was asked to come to Osogbo, Osun State, to collect the hard currencies. On getting there, Alfa took me to a hotel where Kemi had lodged. She then narrated how she was traumatised in the spiritual world, in her effort to assist me to fight the curse, but she assured me it would be well.
“I accompanied the two of them to Osun Osogbo river in Osun State, where I met one old, short man and his group fully dressed in white regalia chanting mysterious Quranic verses.”
